PAULA mentioned to me on Friday a new Cancer Research fundraising campaign - I gave her a quote to include in her story encouraging people to support CR.

Then this evening I have been targeted by the campaign.

Now I realise they have to raise money & I understand as well as anyone how important that money is BUT - this was unbelievable.

Basically the guy lacked any kind of sensitivity or tact.

When I told him I'd done the Race for Life because I have cancer - he replied "Wow - that's brilliant" WTF??? He followed up by it's brilliant to talk to someone benefiting from the work of CR.

He doesn't know my situation, I didn't tell him I was terminal.

He then went on with a challenge to argue with him over who suffers most - cancer sufferers or their loved ones - I wish I'd thought to invite him to swap places with me to decide for himself.

Then he started his quest for money - I told him about my journal & how much that has raised, it would seem that's not enough - he kept on & on trying to get me to agree to any regular amount.

I continued to refuse - I do feel bad because I probably could afford a monthly donation - but where do you stop?

As a family we have already raised & donated loads, we are continuing to do so - I don't feel in a position to make a monthly commitment at the moment. He should have respected that...

I emailed Paula after the call - I feel so shocked that the call happened, I don't want bad press for CR though - after all their work is crucial.

Nikki is letting us publish this journal to raise awareness and funds for Cancer Research. She's set a target of £1,000. To donate, click the logo below
