AROUND 13,000 NHS patients had their contact details given to a private firm without their consent.
The Information Commissioner has said NHS Bournemouth and Poole should not have passed on the details without permission.
Enhanced Healthcare Services was contracted to invite people for health screening as part of a national NHS health check programme.

A statement from NHS Bournemouth and Poole said 13,000 residents aged 40-74 were invited for the checks, which would save lives.
“Four thousand people took us up on this and of them a quarter were found to be at risk of heart disease, stroke or diabetes in the future,” it said. It insisted there were “very strict data sharing agreements between the company and our GP practices”.
