Sara Russell, a local freelance photographer known mostly for documentary styled work, finds artistic expression to be an essential guide to freedom and peace from recognising it in "every space, moment and time of day".

Reflections upon moments you may or may not have forgotten are the key way to acknowledge and recall what has guided you to become what you are today, and therefore in some sense allowing there to be more of a "presence" within looking back at the "past".

I had been able to interview Sara and find more on the significance in her inspiring profession.

To summarise her words:

"Within the last 10 years, the camera has been a tool that has enabled me to explore various conceptual themes- all revealing a feel of hope, oneness and harmony within the existence of the worldly narrative of oppression, enslavement and hopelessness." By visiting areas such as Palestine or Morocco, she has come across many places and people (in which she has themed exhibitions around) and has been able, through her visual artwork, to appreciate the mystery with her encounters.

Being a documentary or conceptual photographer allows her focus to present images that ignite a spark for a deeper curiosity, and develop a strengthened inner wellbeing.

She also covers corporate events, wedding and family photography and has recently been building a portfolio in commercial work too.

Make sure you find her on instagram @sararussellphotography and know that if you are ever in need of a great photographer, Sara is right here!
