I have come to realise the true importance, and necessity of having a pet. The solace they bring, the sound comfort that then resonates throughout your household. Human or not, company is a big attribute in what makes life worth it. Without company, there is only loneliness, and from loneliness stems sadness. If you’re not a people person, why not try a pet? They are likely to be much cuddlier than a human being anyway!

Hugs and warmth coming your way! Any pet can bring comfort to your life, but there is only truly one path to choose: get a dog.

Firstly, dogs are known to be energetic. At first glance this may not be appealing to you, especially if you prefer to be chilling inside than out in nature, but this could make a change to your day for the better. Whilst being energetic, dogs can bring out a side to you that you never thought you had. They are such an easily excited species that you can’t help but smile and get enthusiastic with them. Moreover, the exercise a dog requires will help you become more active. Due to this combination of exercise and excitement, both your physical and mental health can improve.

Secondly, there’s something about coming home to a friendly face that’s calming after stressful day. A dog will welcome you home with open arms! Whether it’s just been a long day, or you have a genuine crisis on your hands, a dog can give you an opening to ways for coping and destressing. Carrie Packer, a dog owner, said “Having a dog in your life is to have a little dose of joy in every day.” In my own experience, having a dog waiting for me to get home is very comforting and even helps me to take a breather within the demanding atmosphere of exams.

My final point as to why you should get a dog is that they not only provide mental support for your family, but also present an opportunity for your children to gain responsibility and learn more skills. How could you pass up an offer for a mixture of education and fun? It’s the perfect balance.
