British actor, John Cleese has been criticized by late-night talk show host and radio presenter, Graham Norton after his remarks about 'cancel culture'.

The 82-year-old former-Monty Python member, who also starred in the 1975 sitcom, Faulty Towers, made the remarks on the BBC's flagship news programme, 'Today' on Radio 4.

The Faulty Towers actor added that he's "given up on" modern television.

The Irish presenter, who hosts the Graham Norton Show on BBC One, said "cancel culture" was "the wrong word," and that it "should be 'accountability.'

“John Cleese has been very public recently about complaining about what you can’t say.

“It must be very hard to be a man of a certain age who's been able to say whatever he likes for years, and now suddenly there’s some accountability.”

The 59-year-old, according to the Telegraph, added: “It’s free speech, but not consequence-free. I’m aware of the things I say.”
