The 'shocking' sugar contents of the country's favourite sweets and chocolate bars have been revealed in a list of the worst brands for sugar intake.

The research, undertaken by Vera Clinic Cosmetic Dentistry, revealed the 10 worst brands in terms of sugar intake, naming the likes of Kit Kat and Starburst among the highest.

Recently, governments have attempted to curtail sugar intake through the introduction of the Sugar Tax in 2018, seeing brands like Pepsi and Barr reduce the amount of sugar in their UK products.

However, as data shows, a high amount of sugar is still present in some of our favourite treats.

The research revealed the average portion size of each confection, the sugar in grams, and the number of times the sugar is above the daily allowance for those aged 11 or over, 7 to 10, and 4-6.
