The first migrants have today (August 7) moved on to the Bibby Stockholm barge but where is it located as more look set to join them?
The Bibby Stockholm barge is being used as accommodation for asylum seekers in England despite safety concerns.
Around 50 people were expected to be in the first group of migrants to board the vessel, despite local opposition.
More people are expected to board the vessel later today, the PA News Agency understands.
Where is Bibby Stockholm located?
Bibby Stockholm is a vessel that is currently moored in Portland Port, Dorset.
Pictures appeared to show two men being escorted onto the barge by staff in high-vis jackets while a coach was also seen arriving at the port.
However, around 20 asylum seekers didn’t board the barge because their transfers were “cancelled” by lawyers, according to refugee charity Care4Calais.
It comes after Home Office minister Sarah Dines said the barge would be in use “imminently”, despite a series of delays.
She also confirmed “all possibilities” for tackling the migrant crisis are being examined, following reports that the Government is considering reviving plans to fly people who arrive by unauthorised means 4,000 miles to Ascension Island.
Human rights campaigners condemned using the barge to house asylum seekers.
