POOLE Town inched closer to a Premier One title triumph following their 81-run victory over nearest rivals Parley.

The home side totalled 236 for eight after batting first, with Ciaran Quinn hitting 90 and Badral Alam 50.

In reply, Parley could only manage 155 all out as Kristian Wilson took a miserly four for 17.

Poole hold a 34-point advantage over Parley with two weekends to go.

Elsewhere, Broadstone gained the upper hand in the race to avoid the wooden spoon as they triumphed at Weymouth.

Weymouth made 149 all out from their innings which Broadstone surpassed with four wickets in hand.

In Premier One Group B, Stalbridge thumped Ferndown Wayfarers by 111 runs.

The division’s other fixture saw Wimborne & Colehill see off Swanage by a 25-run margin.

Wimborne elected to bat and they got off to a cracking start thanks to a 113-run partnership between Colin Randall (51) and Joe Weld (43).

Then Swanage youngster Jem Warner started to weave his magic and took four wickets in a row, with Weld, Tom Caines, Graham Cole and Simon Woodruff all falling.

Ian Booth did further damage to the lower order and Wimborne & Colehill eventually made it to 163.

In reply, Swanage were in trouble from an early stage as they lost three wickets for the gain of just 20 runs.

That pattern continued and Gavin Wills in particular caused havoc with the ball.

Dan Salmon offered decent resistance (39) and tail-ender Ben Baczala (26) ensured the final scoreline had a competitive look to it.
