MANAGER Adie Arnold wants Christchurch to use their chastening derby drubbing by Verwood as motivation for the visit of noisy neighbours Hamworthy United.

Third-bottom Priory will look to bounce back from Friday’s 4-1 defeat at Fawley when several familiar faces return to Hurn Bridge with the Hammers tomorrow (7.45pm).

But despite his side’s precarious position, Arnold remains focused on performances and is calling for his charges to replicate former club Verwood’s efforts in thumping Christchurch 4-0 on the opening day last month.

Arnold told the Daily Echo: “The main thing I’m looking for is the kind of work-rate and passion Verwood showed against us.

“That defeat hurt me personally but you have to admire what they did. They came out at 100 miles-an-hour and stopped us playing. It typified what a derby should be about.

“I don’t just want our lads turning up at six o’clock, the game should be on their minds all day.

“Hamworthy have real some quality and we have to be brave enough to get in their faces and rattle them from the off. You can’t stand back against them because they’re capable of ripping you to pieces.”

Defender Matt Dodd is Priory’s only injury concern and faces a late fitness test.

Hamworthy will be managed by former Christchurch coach John Macey with boss Graham Kemp committed to a prior arrangement. Hammers welcome back midfielder Micky Hubbard for the clash.

  • In the Hampshire Senior Cup first round tonight, Ringwood Town travel to Folland Sports with the winners hosting Conference Premier Eastleigh next.

New Milton Town host Totton & Eling tonight hoping to set up another home tie with Southern League Fleet Town (both 7.45pm).
