BOURNEMOUTH Cup holders Greenfields produced a strong second-half showing to emerge victorious in the first round of this season’s Hampshire Cup at King George V Playing Fields.

The hosts saw plenty of the ball during the opening exchanges and took the lead through a fierce shot from Kofi Anjorin but Weston quickly levelled with a fine individual effort.

Ethan Stanislas netted to put Greenfields back in front but a second equaliser left this keenly-contested match delicately poised at the interval.

However, the home team found an extra gear after the restart with Ben Nicholl blasting them back in front from Anjorin’s assist within a minute of the restart.

Tim D’Cruz intercepted the ball and set up Nicholl’s second, a sublime volley on the turn having taken the ball down on his chest which put Greenfields firmly in the driving seat.

Danny Gunn bagged a brace thanks to assists from Matt Davis and Max Hill before David Bratchford rounded off the scoring following a blistering run.

The victory acted as perfect preparation for Sunday’s Bournemouth Cup opener against Christchurch.

Greenfields won the Bournemouth Youth League’s Under-15 Alan Paull Trophy on kicks from the penalty mark against Ringwood Town in April.

Greenfields squad: Jacob Walker, Josh Dark, Morgan House, Lewis Sainval, Zak Hallam, Danny Gunn, Tim D'Cruz, Max Hill, Matt Davis, David Bratchford, Kofi Anjorin, Ethan Stanislas, Ben Nicholl. Luke Walters missed out through injury.
