A KNEE injury suffered by Shivan Roushbaiani made a bad night worse for Bashley as they crashed out of the Hampshire Senior Cup at the second-round stage.

Bash lost 2-1 to a Team Solent side that plies its trade two divisions below, with Roushbaiani’s agony compounding matters.

Jesse Waller-Lassen had put the Wessex One visitors in front from the spot in the 13th minute and Mark Jordan doubled the advantage shortly before the break.

However, Leighton Speechley-Price hit back in first half-stoppage time.

Roushbaiani came on as a second-half substitute for Blayne Kinley but lasted only 13 minutes before he was forced out of the action.

It is understood that no other player was involved in the incident.

The match was stopped for nearly an hour before an ambulance took the stricken Bash player away.

When matters resumed, the hosts could not force an equaliser and they were condemned to an early cup exit.

Bash: Maher, Morris, Moore, Dunne, Thoroughgood, Oldring, Kinley (Roushbaiani, 65, Hall for Roushbaiani, 78), Bada, Bosma (Brading, 60), M Speechley-Price, L Speechley-Price. Unused subs: Lambourne, Cullingford.
