WATFORD boss Oscar Garcia has yet to preside over his first victory from the dugout following his appointment at Vicarage Road two-and-a-half weeks ago.

Brought in as head coach following Beppe Sannino’s resignation at the end of August, Garcia took charge for the 1-0 defeat at Charlton last weekend.

The following day, Garcia was admitted to hospital with chest pains and was not present for the Hornets’ 1-0 victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday.

His assistants Ruben Martinez and Javier Pereira took control for that game and with Garcia’s health still a concern, they could do so again when Cherries visit tomorrow (12.15pm).

The club has stressed that the Spaniard has been in regular communication with his coaching team and an update on Garcia’s condition is expected in the next 24 hours.

The former Brighton boss took the reins at Vicarage Road after Sannino departed last month.

Sannino had guided Watford to second in the table but it was reported that club owners – the Pozzo family – were unhappy with the Italian’s methods.

It is thought that the 57-year-old’s future had been considered as early as the summer due to discordance between himself and the Pozzos.

While the head coach was keen on extensive tactical sessions, the owners were concerned that these sessions lacked the necessary intensity to sustain a promotion campaign.

Sannino quit on August 31 and has since returned to his homeland to manage Serie B outfit Catania.

Watford skipper Troy Deeney, who plundered a hat-trick in their 6-1 win against Cherries last season, is reportedly ruled out with a hamstring injury.
