GOBSMACKED Scott Mitchell admitted that helping England to double gold at the WDF Europe Cup had been a “totally mindblowing” experience.

The Bransgore thrower - alongside Scott Waites, Glen Durrant and James Wilson – secured England men a 13th overall title in Bucharest, Romania.

A dream debut for Mitchell at the tournament was capped by an additional triumph in the men’s pairs alongside Waites, as they defeated Durrant and Wilson in the final.

Mitchell, who had claimed the British Open title the previous weekend with a 6-1 thrashing of Martin Phillips, said the tournament had left him on cloud nine.

He told the Daily Echo: “It was absolutely amazing. I’ve played darts all over the place but to play for your country at an event like that was totally mindblowing.

“To go there on the back of winning the British Open the previous weekend was crazy and I was over the moon to win the team event and the pairs.”

Mitchell will have another shot at big tournament success in eight days’ time when he begins his Winmau World Masters campaign in Hull.
