BOURNEMOUTH moved up to eighth in National Three South West thanks to a 46-11 drubbing of strugglers Chard.

Lions ran in seven tries – four of which were scored by Wyn Roberts – in the bonus-point victory at Chapel Gate.

Chard led 6-3 at the mid-point of the first half thanks to a couple of Jonny Selway penalties.

However, just before the half- hour mark, Roberts chipped over the top and was swiftly in for a try, with Jon Sanchez sending over the conversion.

Moments later, Joe Rees burst through the middle before finding centre Roberts to score under the posts. Sanchez added the extras.

Early in the second half, Bournemouth turned the screw. Following a brutal drive into the Chard 22, the ball was released left and Sanchez put Rees clear to touch down. A successful conversion made it 24-6.

Lions were later awarded a five-metre scrum and replacement prop Josh Terry barged Roberts over for his hat-trick.

With his last act of the game, Sanchez kicked the goal.

Holding a 31-11 lead with just over 10 minutes left, the home side further added to their tally when Roberts fly-hacked through and gathered to touch down.

The ball fell over as Alex Sutherland prepared to take the conversion and his hasty drop goal attempt dropped wide.

A quickly-taken penalty then allowed skipper Alan Manning to score an unconverted try.

To finish off, Sam Hardcastle crossed the whitewash unopposed.
