ARTUR Boruc has made a career out of giving away very little.

The giant goalkeeper has certainly played his part in stemming the tide since arriving on loan at Dean Court from Southampton last month.

Despite opening their Championship campaign with back-to-back clean sheets, Cherries shipped 10 goals in their next five games, slipping from first to 15th in the process.

Undefeated with Boruc between the sticks, the Polish international has been beaten only twice, his efforts helping Cherries to three league wins and a draw, and progression into the last 16 of the League Cup.

Boruc, who kept 14 clean sheets in 29 appearances in the Premier League for Southampton last season, has courted more than his fair share of headlines since arriving in Britain for the first time in 2005.

Most of the stories surfaced during an eventful five-year stay at Celtic. Some were positive, some not so positive and one was proven to be wholly untrue.

In an interview with Sky Sports last week, Boruc hinted at the prospect of leaving Southampton after falling out of favour under new boss Ronald Koeman, who has installed Fraser Forster, a £10million signing from Celtic, as his first-choice.

Asked by the Daily Echo whether joining Cherries would be an option, Boruc, true to form, gave away nothing: “We will see.”

And after being probed with a follow-up question, the quietly-spoken Pole again ensured his breaches would remain intact: “We will see, that is my answer. There are still a couple of months to go so we will see what life is going to bring.”

Asked for his first impressions of Cherries, Boruc replied: “I can see it is a club with great ambition and that is what matters in life, especially in my life.

“I am a really ambitious guy and that is the reason I am here. I can see there are a good bunch of players who are improving all the time and, hopefully, we are going to do something really good this season.

“I like the way the team plays. The manager wants us to play from the back and I really like that. We did it with (Mauricio) Pochettino at Southampton last season and, if you do it well, it works unbelievably well because when the team presses, you can easily create chances and that is what happens with us.

“The manager is a top-level manager. He is a great motivator and a great guy as well. The club has the right man in place so, hopefully, the team will follow.”

Entering Boruc's name into a search engine throws up a host of stories, some of which make for fascinating reading.

Asked whether he felt he had “calmed down” with age, the 34-year-old replied: “That always happens. When you have kids and they start looking at you, you start thinking that is the time when you have to stop being that crazy guy, kind of.

“I think I'm a little quieter now than I was a couple of years ago just because life can treat you differently.

“Life calms me down. I have had a couple of kicks in my eyes. Life brings different stories and that is what happened with me.”

Asked whether he wished to expand, Boruc produced another top-drawer reply when he said: “Not really, there is no point. Everything is on the Internet!”
