JAMIE Moores plundered a hat-trick as Hamworthy Recreation stunned fellow high-fliers Merley Cobham Sports by handing out a 6-0 thrashing to their rivals.

Moores gave the visitors a 14th-minute lead before Merley were forced into a change at the break when goalkeeping coach Colin Randall was pressed into action to replace injured number one Jamie Perry.

A devastating burst of five goals in the space of 20 minutes straight after half-time saw Rec run out convincing victors with two further efforts from Moores sandwiching strikes from Sam Purdy, Max Wilcock and Dom Falcos.

Toby Holmes’s treble paved the way for Parley Sports to register a 4-1 win at Sturminster Marshall. James Bailey-Pearce was also on target for Parley, while Jack Geddes netted Stur’s consolation.

Second-half goals from Kevin Monaghan, Taylor Godden and George Kimber earned Shaftesbury Town a 3-0 home win over Tintinhill.

Adam Linaker netted twice as Portland United reclaimed pole position following a 2-1 home win over Mere Town who had Sam Biddiscombe on the scoresheet.

Blandford United boss Brad Asagba was left to rue a disappointing first-half showing as the Royals went down 2-0 to Weymouth reserves at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Asagba admitted the visitors had struggled to get to grips with the movement of the Weymouth forwards, with the Terras deservedly taking the lead through Josh Tennant.

Despite improving after the break, another defensive lapse from a throw eventually led to the ball finding its way to Tennant who added his and Weymouth’s second.

Blandford were denied when arguably one of the best saves seen at the Bob Lucas Stadium prevented Luke Phillips’ looping header giving them a glimmer of hope.

Boss Asagba said: “As I mentioned prior to the game, this Weymouth side is probably the most efficient in the league and are accomplished in everything they do. It was probably their strongest squad of season and it certainly showed.

“We were missing a few from the group. However, even if we had had Zico in our starting line-up, our first-half performance was so abject it would have made no difference whatsoever to the scoreline in this period.

“Once the game seemed over, we then decided to compete and probably shaded the second half. However, the players have been made aware that that performance as a collective over the course of 90 minutes was light years away from being acceptable. But Kudos to Jake as, at times, his team was irresistible and they will feel it was an excellent three points.”
