CHERRIES will be hoping Ian Holloway leaves behind his golden ticket after the Millwall boss revealed he had been inspired by a visit to Willy Wonka.

Holloway, who got both Blackpool and Crystal Palace promoted to the Premier League, wants to create something special at The Den – just like Wonka did with his chocolate factory.

The Lions boss recently saw a stage version of the Roald Dahl story and said: “You can create anything you want and that is what I want to do at Millwall.

“To put it in a nutshell, I went to the theatre with my daughter and my wife and we saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

“I couldn’t believe what my eyes saw – it was fantastic entertainment and I had a smile on my face from start to finish.

“I know it’s only a Roald Dahl story but that man believed he could make anything – he said you’ve got to believe it to see it. So, hopefully, by the time I’ve finished at Millwall, whether we go up or down, people will say ‘wow, what a thing he tried to create there’. I’m not going to stop because that is what I want.”

Holloway was appointed Millwall manager in January and steered them to 19th place last season, capped by a 1-0 victory over Cherries on the final day.

His trip to the theatre in the West End came ahead of last week’s 0-0 stalemate with Charlton, the Lions’ seventh draw of the campaign.

Since opening the season with back-to-back Championship win against Leeds and Fulham, Millwall have managed only two further league victories, at home to Blackpool and Cardiff.
