CHERRIES stand to cash in further on Danny Ings should their former striker complete a transfer window move from Burnley.

Reports in the national press suggest Liverpool are leading the chase for Ings in a move which would see him immediately loaned back to the Clarets for the rest of the season.

Although the Reds are favourites to land the 22-year-old, Premier League rivals Tottenham and Newcastle have also been linked with Ings, as have Real Sociedad, who are managed by David Moyes.

Ings, who is out of contract at the end of the season, left Dean Court for Turf Moor when he was signed by then-Burnley boss Eddie Howe for a fee rising to £1million in August 2011.

The deal included a sell-on – which is believed to have a ceiling of around £250,000 – and Cherries would expect to bank the maximum should Ings be sold this month.

Ings, released by Southampton when he was a schoolboy, was invited to join the ranks at Dean Court by Joe Roach during his first spell heading the youth department.

Handed his full debut by Howe at MK Dons in December 2010 as an 18-year-old, Ings netted seven times to help Cherries reach the League One play-offs and scored again in their epic 3-3 draw at Huddersfield in the semi-final.

Although his playing time under Howe at Burnley was restricted by serious knee problems, Ings battled back to become one of the hottest striking properties in the country.

Capped seven times by England under-21s, his seven goals this season have helped Burnley hold their own in the Premier League following promotion from the Championship.
