PIRATES ace Kyle Newman has missed out on a berth in Great Britain's Speedway World Cup event two line-up after national boss Alun Rossiter halved his squad.

Rossiter has elected to run with Tai Woffinden, Chris Harris, Robert Lambert and Danny King, with Kyle Howarth taking the reserve spot.

Also missing out from the original 10 were Craig Cook, Lewis Kerr, Richard Lawson and Richie Worrall.

Poole-born reserve Newman, in fine form in the Elite League this season, had earned praise from Rossiter earlier this week for his talent and commitment.

In an interview with the Daily Echo, Rossiter said: "Since the fast track programme was brought in, Kyle has been the one that has really stood out.

"I can't see why he wouldn't improve if he maintains his current attitude, because his attitude is 100 per cent."

Prior to his World Cup call-up, Newman, 23, had been selected by Rossiter to compete in a Grand Prix qualifier in Gorican, Croatia in April.

The World Cup is due to begin on Saturday, June 6 in Gniezno, Poland with event two at King's Lynn – in which GB will compete against Australia, the United States and Latvia – following two days later.
