POOLE Pirates skipper Maciej Janowski refused to blame his breakdown en route to Cardiff for stalling in the British Grand Prix.

The Pole's Millennium Stadium bow got off to a hurried start when he made Friday's practice with a mere 10 minutes to spare having suffered engine trouble on the motorway.

But despite finding what he felt was the right formula to push for a repeat of the third place and 18 points he picked up in Prague, Janowski was left disappointed with a meagre return of three from five qualifying rides.

His cause was not aided by an unkind draw with two of his rides coming from an outside gate that failed to produce a single winner. His only points came from a heat-seven victory from the inside position, the starting point for 16 out of the 23 race winners.

Asked if the breakdown had affected him, Janowski told the Daily Echo: "There are no excuses, we had a practice.

"For sure, the track was very short and it was hard to find something after four of five times on the it but after a good practice, I was thinking we could get some good points.

"It was tough. There was nothing more I could do, I tried but the setup was not enough to score more.

"Now we must calm down, see what we did wrong and in future try not to do it again. We still have a lot of rounds to go so we must forget about it and look forward to the next one."
