DARCY Ward has vowed to go full throttle for Swindon against parent club Poole Pirates – even if he is dreading the prospect.

The Aussie ace finally completed his controversial loan move to Poole's arch-rivals today, a fortnight after the Daily Echo reported the switch.

In a quirk of the fixture calendar, Ward, who confirmed his UK visa had been given the green light, is set to kick off his comeback from a 10-month ban in front of the Sky cameras against Pirates on Monday after confirming he will not ride at Leicester on Saturday.

Ward told the Daily Echo: "I think Sky Sports knew something I didn't! It's a funny one but to be honest, it probably isn't ideal for anyone involved.

"It is great for TV and for the sport but at the same time it is a lot of pressure for me in my first meeting.

"I haven't raced for nearly a year and have done just one full practice session. It is not ideal but I will go at it full steam ahead to tackle it."

The shock switch came after Poole promoter Matt Ford decided against making changes to his high-flying class of 2015 to accommodate Ward, leaving the 23-year-old free to pick an alternative in the Elite League.

And while he acknowledged the temporary transfer would raise a few eyebrows at Wimborne Road, Ward was adamant he had Ford's blessing.

"Matt has been pretty supportive," Ward added. "We are very good friends and have a good working relationship. He understands this is the best thing for me and my career.

"Swindon is a good club with a good track, it is the closest club to where I live and racing Thursdays fits well with my commitments around the world.

"Matt knows it would have been silly for me not to go to Swindon once I had the opportunity and I respect him for that. Middlo (team boss Neil Middleditch) hasn't been so kind about it but deep down, he knows it is the right move.

"At the end of the day, it was my decision and my decision only."

On his long-term future, Ward continued: "I have a long way to go this season and a lot to do to re-establish myself. I have to hit the ground running so right now, I haven't set my sights on anything more than that.

"Of course, I think I will be a Pirate in 2016 but I will be putting in 100 per cent at Swindon for the rest of this year.

"I am just looking forward to racing, it is killing me not being out there but I am still in Australia sorting out some other stuff."

On his visa, Ward said: "I have had confirmation that it is in the post, I'm just waiting to receive it."
