BOSS Tom Killick is set to wrestle with a goalkeeping quandary ahead of Poole Town’s Southern League curtain raiser on Saturday.

Number one Nick Hutchings missed the start of pre-season and had his game time curtailed by an ingrown toenail which forced him to miss Poole's final warm-up fixture – a 7-0 victory over Folland Sports.

Ex-Cherries youngster Chad Collins deputised between the sticks and could be in line to start against newly-promoted heavyweights Kettering Town after impressing the Dolphins manager.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “Nick’s situation is a bit of a worry, primarily because he hasn’t had many minutes.

“He has been away quite a lot so hasn’t played many games. That is as much a concern as the injury but young Chad has been doing well.

"That is the positive side of the situation and if for any reason Hutch is not match fit, I would trust him to step in.”

Ex-Wimborne winger Jamie Davidson has just returned from holiday and could still get the chance to shine, particularly with free-scoring wideman Luke Burbidge set to miss three weeks of the campaign following Poole’s first three matches.

Meanwhile, Killick admits long-term injury victim Carl Preston is “not quite where he needs to be” with his fitness yet but insists he has “a lot of faith” in the winger to challenge for a place.

Trialist Lerone Plummer is now training with Fleet Town, while Lucas Burt is set to register with Thatcham Town but Killick remains keen to “keep tabs on him”.

Sam Lanahan is set to dual-register with Poole and a Sydenhams Wessex League side.
