MATT Ritchie scored a sensational goal but Scotland's Euro 2016 hopes were ended by a late Poland equaliser at Hampden Park.

The Cherries winger thumped home a glorious effort from around 25 yards to put the hosts level after Robert Lewandowski's opener.

Steven Fletcher made it 2-1 after the break but Lewandowski equalised with the final kick of the game to end the Tartan Army's hopes of progress to the tournament in France next summer.

However, there was better news for Cherries midfielder Eunan O'Kane as the Republic of Ireland beat world champions Germany 1-0.

The uncapped O'Kane was an unused substitute.

The Republic would qualify for Euro 2016 with victory over Poland on Sunday. Failing that, a 2-2 draw or a higher-scoring draw would be enough to take Martin O'Neill's side through.
