POOLE’S Jacob Peters is the fastest 15-year-old boy in Britain over all three butterfly distances after another spree of record-breaking.

The national age group and Sainsbury’s School Games champion broke five Dorset junior records in nine days in two separate meets at Millfield.

At the Millfield and Taunton Deane Super Series Meet, Peters set new short course figures of 25.50, 56.49 and 2:05.44 in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly.

The old 200m record was his own but the sprint records had belonged to Ferndown Otters’ Seth Chappels since 1998.

A week later, Peters again lowered the 50m and 200m records to 25.40 and 2:03.73 on his way to seven medals at the South West Short Course Championships.

His results included silver in the men’s 50m butterfly in which he was the only junior to make the eight-lane final.

He also won junior gold in the 50m and 100m backstroke and 50m and 200m butterfly, junior silver in the 100m fly and junior bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Poole team-mates Harriet Perfect and Jasmine McCrea were also in record-breaking form.

Fifteen-year-old Perfect’s junior bronze-winning 100m backstroke time of 1:03.27 at the South West championships equalled Fiona Hardie’s Dorset senior record from 2012 and lowered Jessica Brown’s junior record set in 1999.

She also won junior gold and bronze in the 200m and 50m backstroke, respectively.

McCrea marked her 14th birthday by breaking Sam Greenep’s Dorset junior 50m butterfly record from 1993 three times during the two Millfield meets with times of 28.98, 28.88 and 28.73.

Ferndown Otters’ Greenep went on to become British 100m butterfly champion in the mid-1990s.

McCrea made senior finals in 50 and 100m butterfly at the South West meet, winning junior silver in both. Emily Clarke, 17, added two silvers to Poole’s 16-medal tally (senior 400m and 800m freestyle in 4:21.77 and 8:57.07).

Thea O’Keefe, 15, and Teagan-Mae Graham, 14, won junior silver and bronze in the 800m freestyle in 9:18.25 and 9:32.44, respectively.

Poole’s tally of 16 regional medals was beaten only by swim scholarship squads Plymouth Leander, Millfield and Mount Kelly.

Bournemouth Collegiate and Poole’s Jamie Holmes, 18, became the first Dorset man to go under 30 seconds for 50m breaststroke.

His time of 29.71 at the Millfield and Taunton Deane meet knocked 0.32sec off Jack Burton’s county record from 2013.

Swim Bournemouth’s Jess Richens, 16, finished one place outside the regional medals in the 200m butterfly, coming fourth in 2:20.90 after slashing five seconds off her PB to make the final.

Team-mates Kelvin Wong (50m breaststroke) and Matt Collins (50m butterfly) achieved national qualifying times.
