FORMER Dean Court favourite Ian Cox has been named as joint-manager of Ryman South outfit Whitstable Town.
Cox, who joined Cherries in March 1996, stepped down as head coach at Ramsgate to team up with Wayne Wilson.
Now 44, Cox struck up with Eddie Howe one of the best central defensive partnerships in Cherries’ recent history after being paired together for the first time early in 1997-98.
Both Cox and Wilson work at Gillingham and saw off more than 20 applicants for the job. Whitstable are currently four points adrift at the bottom in Ryman South.
Cox, who represented Trinidad & Tobago at the 2006 World Cup finals, skippered Cherries in the final of the Auto Windscreens Shield at Wembley in 1998.
