HANS Andersen admitted the Wimborne Road circuit had ridden like two different tracks in Monday's shock defeat to Belle Vue.

Pirates managed just three heat advantages all night as their Elite League play-off push suffered a significant body blow.

Andersen, who racked up nine paid 10, was excluded for bringing down Matej Zagar after getting out of shape in heat 13.

Asked if the track had been difficult to ride, Andersen told the Daily Echo: "In some ways it was.

"The problem was it was so wet early on. Once the outside starts drying out it develops quite a heavy dirt line.

"You were coming in on a slick track and then hitting a wall of heavy dirt. That's why you saw riders get caught out, even myself.

"Tracks can vary a little bit between being a bit slick and having a bit more dirt on the outside but it was like two different tracks.

"You had to have a completely different set-up if you were going to ride the boards.

"The track was the same for everyone but it made it a lot more difficult for us because there was not really a home track advantage.

"We have got to get that right because we definitely need to win our home meetings. If we start losing at home, that's no good."
