BRIGHTON will have to pay a seven-figure sum if they want to re-sign striker Glenn Murray, according to the Argus.

The newspaper has reported Murray "remains on the wish list" of the Seagulls and that the club "face forking out a seven-figure fee".

Murray was a firm favourite with Brighton fans during a three-and-a-half year stay between January 2008 and May 2011.

The Seagulls are reportedly intent on boosting their striking options after Bobby Zamora was released and loanee James Wilson returned to Manchester United.

In January, Cherries boss Eddie Howe poured cold water over suggestions linking Murray with a loan move to Brighton.

The 32-year-old had previously joined Cherries in a £4million deal from Crystal Palace in September, the Barrow-born ace signing a three-year deal.

He made 22 appearances for the Vitality Stadium side in all competitions last season, scoring four goals, including a memorable late winner at Chelsea.

However, the experienced frontman featured just once in the Premier League following the closure of the January transfer window, with the arrivals of Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban and the eventual return to fitness of Callum Wilson seemingly pushing him down the pecking order.
