RYAN Fraser admitted his Premier League debut had been a bitter-sweet experience but also said he would remember it as “the happiest day of my life”.

Winger Fraser was something of a surprise starter in Cherries’ 1-0 defeat by West Ham at London Stadium on Sunday.

The 22-year-old turned in an accomplished display before he was substituted just seconds after Michail Antonio had netted Hammers’ late winner five minutes from time.

Fraser, who joined Cherries in a £400,000 deal from Aberdeen in January 2013, netted six goals in 21 appearances during a loan spell with Ipswich last season.

The Scotsman had not featured in a competitive game since sustaining a hamstring injury in January and was making his first appearance for Cherries for 17 months.

Fraser told the Daily Echo: “I made my Premier League debut but we lost the game. There are highs and lows in football but, for me personally, it was a good day.

“Saying that, I would rather we had won and me not played. I was surprised I lasted 85 minutes and thought I did well. I just want more now.

“When I was a kid watching Match of the Day, I always hoped I might get to play in the Premier League. You always have doubts but now I have finally done it, nobody can take it away from me.

“It was probably the happiest moment of my life. It is one I will cherish forever but it is behind me now.

“I just want to make as much of it as I can, I want to score as many goals as I can, help Bournemouth and then see where it goes.

“I want to start as many games as I can. I am hoping I will start the next game but you never know because the manager might change the team.

“But I will train hard, as I normally do. I always try my best and work hard so that is all I can do.”

Fraser added: "We didn’t play too well in the first half but limited them as well.

"I thought we came out a much better team in the second half and dominated possession. We were getting shots away and crosses into the box and I thought it was only a matter of time before we scored.

"But when you go down to 10 men away from home, you are going to have to change the system. We tried to put the block on but they got their one chance and scored."
