SCOTT Mitchell's hopes of retaining a PDC tour card took a massive hit after a torrid time in Barnsley over the weekend.

The Dorset star headed north for three tournaments, knowing he needed to rack up some wins to bolster his ranking and break back into the world's top 64, to keep his place on tour for 2023.

Instead, Scotty Dog lost all three of his matches at Barnsley Metrodome, and stays at number 72.

Mitchell suffered a disappointing 6-2 loss to tour debutant Dan Read, before going down 6-4 to Darren Webster in the opening round the following day.

Mitchell then competed in a Grand Slam qualifier on Sunday, but Dutchman Jimmy Hendriks averaged 106 in a 5-1 victory.

That means Mitchell has just one more chance to retain his tour card. That will come in Barnsley on November 28, in the World Championship qualifer.
