JODIE Burrage was unable to produce another upset at Wimbledon, slumping to a 6-0 6-2 defeat on centre court to 11th seed Daria Kasatkina.

The British number two, who attended Talbot Heath school in Bournemouth, had defeated American Caty McNally on Monday in the first round for a maiden victory at the All England club.

It looked to be a whitewash when Russian Kasatkina won the opening set in 19 minutes, with Burrage picking up just seven points.

There were glimmers of hope for the 24-year-old in the second set, Burrage breaking early, but whatever momentum she had built up was quickly quashed by a rain delay.

On the restart, Kasatkina made sure of the result, winning five straight games to ease into the final 32.

However, despite the second round exit, Burrage is still projected to enter the top 100 in the rankings for the first time when they are updated in two weeks.
