HAMWORTHY United will be hoping it is fourth time lucky when it comes to staging a pre-season friendly, after three separate postponements.

Hammers had been set to host a rematch of the Southern League Division One South play-off final at the County Ground on Saturday, with Sholing travelling across the New Forest.

However, the Boatmen pulled out of the fixture on Friday, with Hamworthy stating that the Southern Premier League South outfit could not arrange a side for the friendly.

That led to a last-minute arrangement with Lymington Town, but as Hammers were travelling to the game, it was announced that the fixture was cancelled as Lymo looked to preserve their pitch ahead of the new season.

After no football this weekend, Dan Cann’s men prepared to host Sherborne.

But the east Dorset outfit pulled out on Monday, leaving Hammers to again hastily arrange another friendly.

Wessex Premier League side Bournemouth Poppies stepped up, and will now visit the County Ground tomorrow evening.
