WIMBORNE Town left it late to seal victory at Bashley, winning 2-1 away at the GlenMex Stadium.

Tim Sills’ Magpies had trailed at the break, former Tranmere winger Abdulai Baggie converting right at the end of first-half stoppage time.

Shortly after the hour mark Wimborne equalised through Lewis Beale, before deep into second-half added time Magpies snatched all three points through Harry Baker.

After having played and beaten Malvern 2-0 on Saturday, boss Sills made sweeping changes to his side.

Oakley Hanger, Connor Cocklin, and Beale all made way, being replaced by Billy Walker, Ben Satterley, and Jack Lovell respectively.

Magpies started brightly, and saw a Matty Neale effort cleared off the line by Jonathan Davis in the opening stages.

Wimborne had plenty of the ball but were unable to connect on a few occasions, Satterley drawing the best save out of Bash keeper Ross Casey.

The hosts’ best weapon was the long throw of Ben Jefford, which kept the Magpies backline honest and busy at the back.

For all the away side’s attacking possession, it would be the home team to grab the game’s first goal.

A ball over the top down the right flank found Harvey Slade, who in turn supplied a cross to Baggie to flash past Ross Flitney in the Wimborne goal.

Magpies still had the second period to turn the game around. Saturday goalscorer Beale was introduced at the hour mark, and after just six minutes on the pitch, he had made an impact.

The attacker drifted to the edge of the area, allowing him to blast home an equaliser.

Both teams hunted for a winner in the final stages, the scores remaining deadlocked until added time.

Into the eighth of nine added minutes, Baker rounded off a perfect counter to give his side all three points.

The result leaves Magpies in second in the embryonic Southern League Division One South table, level on points and goal difference with first-placed Bemerton Heath Harlequins and third-placed Melksham Town.
