Wimborne Town defeat Bristol Manor Farm 4-0

A first-half brace from Harry Baker sandwiched Jez Bedford’s 31st minute strike for the Magpies, before Jack Lovell made sure of the result four minutes into the second period.

Boss Tim Sills named latest signings Sam Griffin and Cam Munn on the bench following their move from neighbours Hamworthy United, who pulled out of the Southern League Division One South last week.

There was just one change from the side that defeated Bideford 3-1 last time out, defender Billy Walker making way for Connor Cocklin.

It took just eight minutes for Magpies to open scores.

Lovell slipped in Baker, who rounded Sethan Locke in the Manor Farm goal to slot home and get Magpies going.

Despite their eventual domination of the scoreline, Wimborne had to weather some pressure from their guests.

However, Manor Farm were unable to convert possession into shots on goal, allowing their hosts to grow back into the game.

Shortly after the half-hour mark, it would be two. Captain Sam Roberts’ clearance found Bedford, who set off on a mazy run.

His dribble culminated in a shooting opportunity, the former Portsmouth man blasting from range and finding the top corner.

Minutes later, Baker would be at the double.

Latest goalscorer Bedford turned provider, the midfielder latching onto to Lewis Beale’s cross to tee up Baker for his second of the afternoon.

A flurry of Wimborne chances took the game to the interval, with the home side continuing their siege of the Manor Farm goal in the second half.

It took just four minutes of the final 45 for Magpies to grab a fourth.

Oakley Hanger’s cross from the right was suitable for Lovell to nod home, effectively sealing the result with 40 minutes to play.

Wimborne sit third in the table, with 17 points from eight games.
