POOLE Town boss Matt Tubbs confirmed that talisman Tony Lee is set to leave the club after the striker asked for a move away.

Dolphins lost 2-0 away at Salisbury without top scorer Lee, who informed the club on Thursday night of his desire to leave.

Former Cherry Jake Scrimshaw has already been drafted in as a replacement, the striker signing from division rivals Gosport Borough ahead of the Salisbury game.

Tubbs told Poole’s club media: “I’ll be open and honest.

“We had an open and honest conversation with Tony on Thursday night.

“He made it clear that he wanted to leave the football club. “We didn’t want him to leave.

“We said that ‘we want you to stay have a night, think about it’ and he’s come back to us Friday morning and still adamant that he want to go.

“I’ve said all along we only want players that want to play for this football club at this football club, in that dressing room.

“I thanked the lads before the game, the fact that they are sticking with us through a tricky spell.

“Unsure on Tony’s future, don’t know where he’s going to go, don’t know what he’s going to do.

“He’s obviously going to have a little bit of interest in him.”
