DORSET’S Georgia Hall has today been formally named in the Great Britain & Ireland team for next month’s Curtis Cup showdown with the United States.
As revealed by bournemouthecho.co.uk on Sunday, the Parkstone golfer will compete in the match play competition at St Louis Country Club, Missouri from June 6-8.
The Ladies’ Golf Union announced the eight-strong team which comprises Hall, Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm), Gabriella Cowley (Hanbury Manor), Annabel Dimmock (Wentworth), Gemma Dryburgh (Beaconsfield), Bronte Law (Bramhall), Stephanie Meadow (Royal Portrush) and Charlotte Thomas (Singapore).
Only two of the team that triumphed in the 2012 Curtis Cup at Nairn Golf Club in Scotland survive, those being Meadow and Law, with Hall one of six newcomers.
The 18-year-old controversially missed out on Curtis Cup selection two years ago when she was only named as first reserve, despite winning a trial match at Nairn.
However, this time the selection criteria was different with Hall guaranteed a place in the team due to her favourable world amateur ranking.
