WEYMOUTH dominated the Dorset championships with Tom Robson becoming the club’s first county winner.

Robson toppled clubmate John Blanks with three holes to spare in the match play final at Broadstone.

The newly-crowned county champion also won the Garrett Salver after winning the stroke play qualifier with a level-par 70 – one shot ahead of Tom Atkins (Parkstone).

Atkins, who lifted the colts’ Luffman Trophy, sealed second place on count back from Weymouth’s Jon Welch who matched his score of 71.

Weymouth also won the team cup and will represent Dorset at the English Club Championships later this year.

In total, six Weymouth members finished in the top 16 of the stroke play event to qualify for the match play stages.

In the semi-finals, Robson overcame another club-mate Robbie Mabb 5&4, while Blanks edged out former champion Tom Leech (Ferndown) at the first extra hole.
