HAMPSHIRE professional Liz Young is heading off to New Zealand at the end of the month to compete again in the Ladies European Tour.

The 32-year-old from Hordle, who trains at Parley Golf Centre, finished 20th last year – her highest placed finish in six years competing.

Young, who earned €81,178.36 prize money in 2014, is coached by Parley pro Peter Thompson.

The tour consists of players from across the world and Liz is aiming for more success this year.

She trains at Parley where work is underway to transform it into the best practice centre in the region.

A £250,000 investment will see an extended driving range and floodlit chipping and putting greens.

The nine-hole course is being rebuilt with carefully configured tees allowing for a round of 18 with a total distance of 5,111 yards.

Indoors will be further putting facilities as well as other innovations to accompany the popular café/bar.

There will be a private room with three driving bays that will include seating and will be available for hire and for business meetings.

Young said: “I practice here with my coach and the plans for the Parley will be a huge improvement. It will offer so much more for golfers who want to work on their game or to develop it.”

Parley manager Daryl Dampney said: “The investment will see an improvement across the whole centre, doubling its size and creating we hope the finest practice facilities in the area.”
