DORSET’S Hayley Davis was today due to renew her bid to earn a LPGA Tour card at the WB Mason Championship in Massachusetts.

The former Brockenhurst College pupil hopes to secure a full card for the LPGA Tour by finishing in the top 10 on the Symetra Tour.

Davis needs to be in that position after the final event of the year, which is set to be held in Daytona Beach, Florida in October.

It is understood the Ferndown Golf Club player favours this method of gaining a card over the three-stage qualifying process which she competed in last year.

Davis has endured a tough start to life on the Symetra Tour.

She missed the cut at the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic, withdrew from the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial and then missed the cut at the Gosling’s Dark ‘n Stormy Classic last week.

After the WB Mason Championship at Thorny Lea, Davis plans to compete in next week’s Fuccillo Kia Championship at Capital Hills in New York state.

Davis is a close friend of fellow pro and Ladies’ European Tour player Georgia Hall, the duo being former Canford Kids at Canford Magna.

Hall is due to return to tour action at the Tipsport Golf Masters in the Czech Republic next month.
