BRENTFORD boss Thomas Frank says he likes the “style” of football Andoni Iraola has brought to Cherries, adding: “It’s impressive what they have done this season.”

Frank’s Bees stung Cherries late on at Vitality Stadium on Saturday, coming away 2-1 winners.

But it has still been a standout campaign for the Dorset club, Iraola guiding them to a record Premier League points tally in his debut season in England.

The first time Cherries met Brentford this season was during the early stages of the campaign, Bees again scoring late to rescue a 2-2 draw in September, during Iraola’s winless start.

Asked if Cherries have changed much in the eight months since, Frank told the Daily Echo: “The thing you would say about Iraola is he has been very clear with what he wants to do with his team.

“I think that was already quite clear when we met in the first game.

“Of course it’s been adjusted and made a little bit better throughout the season.

“I think actually their performances were good, they didn’t get the points they deserved at the beginning of the season.

“Then suddenly they went on this run, winning six out of seven games or something like that.

“But I like his style, I like what they do and I think it’s impressive what they have done this season.”

Bournemouth Echo: Thomas Frank praised the work of Andoni Iraola

A lot of talk around the game at the weekend surrounded each club’s striker, in Ivan Toney and Dominic Solanke, who are battling it out to try and earn a spot in the England squad for this summer’s European Championship.

And while Frank backed his man, he also acknowledged the performances of Solanke, who notched his 19th Premier League goal of the season at the weekend.

“With Solanke, it is clear he has had a good season,” said Frank.

“Without me knowing him that good, but having followed the Premier League for quite a few years, I think it is his best season.

“So that’s a compliment or well done to Solanke.

“I like when I watch him play.”
